BROADWAY'S NEXT H!T MUSICAL
For Christmas, son Ronny and daughter-in-law Katie gave us tickets to BROADWAY'S NEXT H!T MUSICAL to be performed March 1st at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia. That was last night. And boy, did we have fun!
When we arrived, each person wrote a made-up song title on a slip of paper and dropped it in a big glass jar. The cast then picked four slips, one at a time, from the jar and created an unscripted evening of unparalleled fun! I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt, and doubled over from laughing so much I nearly fell out of my chair. The small New York cast improvised the music and words for each song title selected--"Monkey Boy," "Oh Yes I Am Special," "Super Heroes," and one other. The audience voted and picked one title from the four, and settled down to watch an impromptu two-act musical play based on the title. The performers, including the incredibly talented pianist, were spectacular.
Ron and I will follow them on Facebook, and will try to attend more of their performances. If you ever get the opportunity to attend one of BROADWAY'S NEXT H!T MUSICAL performances, do anything you have to do to see it. You won't be sorry.
